The hydrangea for a dry, shady corner

A native hydrangea that forgives what the mopheads will not: dry shade, a missed watering, a pruning at the wrong time. The flowers are upright cones, white in July and dusky rose by September.
The big oak-shaped leaves turn burgundy in the fall, and the peeling cinnamon bark is worth looking at all winter.
