Holds its burgundy from April to frost, then turns scarlet before it drops. Grafted here and grown on for three years, so it arrives with a trunk and a shape rather than a whip.
It wants afternoon shade in a hot summer and shelter from a drying wind. In a pot it stays small for years; in the ground it makes a fifteen-foot tree in about as many years.
